No. Spartanburg Gators offers a sideline cheer program, and tryouts are not required.
Sideline cheerleaders support our football teams on game day by leading cheers and helping build team spirit.
Our program focuses on learning cheers, teamwork, confidence, and creating a fun and encouraging environment for all cheerleaders.
Spartanburg Gators has been part of the local community for 29 years, providing young athletes with opportunities to grow, learn, and build confidence through youth sports.
Our sideline cheer program continues that tradition by creating a positive and supportive environment where cheerleaders develop teamwork, leadership, and school spirit.
One of the most special parts of our program is seeing former Gator cheerleaders return years later with their own children — and even come back to help coach the next generation of Gators.
That is the Gator Legacy.

We are looking for fun, energetic, and passionate individuals to join our sideline cheer family this season!
No experience required — training provided!
If you love working with youth and being part of an amazing program, we’d love to hear from you!

Spartanburg Gators Cheer is about more than cheers — it's about community and team spirit.
Cheerleaders support the Gators on game day while building friendships through team activities, celebrations, and an end-of-season banquet.
What an AWESOME HONOR to be featured on Fox Carolina News tonight! Yes, we want our girls to have fun and be competitive...but in the end...it is our goal to mitigate as many risk factors as possible! Thank you, Michaela Leggett, for this opportunity!!

My name is Coach Angie, and I serve as the Cheer Director and Minis Coach for the Spartanburg Gators Cheer Program. In addition to overseeing the administrative and logistical needs of the cheer program, I work directly with our Minis throughout the season.
My goal is to create an organized, positive, and fun cheer experience for all of our athletes while supporting our coaches, families, and cheerleaders. As the Minis Coach, I’m excited to help our youngest cheerleaders build confidence, learn the fundamentals of cheer, and most importantly, have fun!
I retired from the Army in 2026 after 24 years of service and am proud to bring that same dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Spartanburg Gators.
Experience:
Coaching Spartanburg Gators Cheerleaders since 2016
Army Master Fitness Trainer
CPR/AED Certified

My name is Nevaeh West, and I go by Coach Veah. I’m very excited to be a part of the Spartanburg Gators Cheer program this season.
I am a 2026 graduate of Woodruff High School, and I also earned my cosmetology license. I may be new to coaching cheer, but I have a background in dance, which taught me dedication, performance, and teamwork.
This season, I hope to help create a fun and positive environment where the cheerleaders can learn new routines, build confidence, and make new friendships.
I’m excited to be a part of the Spartanburg Gators family and to get to know everyone as we have an amazing season.
